Apple today released a teaser trailer for Cape Fear, a new “highly anticipated” psychological thriller series coming to Apple TV+.
The series stars Amy Adams, Patrick Wilson, and Javier Bardem, and will run as a 10-episode limited series. The first two episodes will premiere on Friday, June 5, followed by one new episode each Friday through July 31.
In Cape Fear, Apple describes a story in which a storm is about to hit happily married attorneys Anna (Amy Adams) and Tom Bowden (Patrick Wilson). Their lives are turned upside down when Max Cady (Javier Bardem), a notorious killer they helped put behind bars, is released from prison and returns seeking revenge.
The series has a long creative history spanning over 70 years. The upcoming Apple TV+ show is inspired by the 1991 film Cape Fear, directed by Martin Scorsese and produced by Steven Spielberg. That film itself was a remake of the 1962 original, which was based on John D. MacDonald’s 1957 novel The Executioners.
This new adaptation is created by Nick Antosca, who also serves as showrunner, with Scorsese and Spielberg returning as executive producers alongside him.
In terms of availability, Apple TV+ is priced at $12.99 per month or $129 per year in the U.S., with a one-week free trial for new subscribers. It is also included in Apple One and select bundled offerings.
The service can be streamed through the Apple TV app on a wide range of devices, including iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV 4K, Apple Vision Pro, Android devices, gaming consoles like PlayStation and Xbox, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, select smart TVs, and via the web at
