The tribute has particular meaning for Hamilton, who grew up watching Schumacher race for Ferrari. Both Hamilton and Schumacher have won seven world championships, making the visual connection between the two champions especially fitting for the weekend.
Hamilton Could Make Monza History
Hamilton already shares the record for the most Italian Grand Prix victories, with five wins at Monza. Michael Schumacher also won the race five times.
That means another Hamilton victory would give him an outright record of six Italian Grand Prix wins.
Doing it for Ferrari would make the achievement even more symbolic.
Hamilton’s move to Ferrari was one of the biggest stories in modern F1, and his first season with the team did not produce the results many expected. His 2026 campaign, however, has shown significant improvement.
He secured his first Ferrari victory at the Spanish Grand Prix in June, beating George Russell and Lando Norris after Ferrari executed a successful three-stop strategy.

Hamilton’s hopes of gaining ground in the championship have also received an unexpected boost.
Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli arrives at his home Italian Grand Prix as the championship leader, but he is set to start from the back of the grid after Mercedes changed his power unit.
That could give Hamilton an opportunity to reduce the gap in the championship standings.
