This Music Selection Tweak in iOS 26.4 Will Save You Bags of Time

If you regularly add a song to an Apple Music playlist, then go back and repeat the process for other playlists, iOS 26.4 introduces a time-saving feature: you can now select multiple playlists at once when adding a track.

If you often add a track to an Apple Music playlist, then go back and repeat the same process for other playlists, iOS 26.4 introduces a small but powerful feature that can save you a lot of time: the ability to select multiple playlists at once when adding a song.

Previously, when you tapped Add to Playlist, you were taken to a list of your playlists where you could only choose one at a time. In iOS 26.4, Apple has added a new multi-select option that lets you choose several playlists in a single step.

How it works

In the Music app, start by finding the song you want to add.
Long-press the track or tap the three-dot () menu next to it.
Select Add to Playlist.

On the next screen, tap the new multi-select button in the bottom-right corner. From there, you can pick as many playlists as you want—the selected ones will be marked with a red checkmark. Once you’re done, tap the checkmark button in the top-right corner to confirm.

The header at the top will also update to show how many playlists you’ve selected, helping you keep track before finalizing.

Why it matters

It may seem like a small improvement, but for users who organize music across multiple playlists—by mood, genre, activity, or occasion—it removes a lot of repetitive navigation. What used to take several steps can now be done in one quick action.

In fact, many users who rely heavily on playlist curation may find this one of the most practical Music app updates in years.

More changes in iOS 26.4

Alongside this, Apple has also refreshed the look of albums and playlists. The new fullscreen design uses album artwork colors to style the entire background and interface, creating a more immersive and visually cohesive listening experience.

To try these features, make sure your iPhone is updated to the latest version by going to:
Settings → General → Software Update.
