Apple Now Selling USB-C to 3.5mm Audio Cable for AirPods Max and Beats Studio Pro

The new USB-C to 3.5mm cable from Apple is essentially the replacement for the older Lightning audio cable that was previously used with AirPods Max and other Apple/Beats audio gear.

What it does

Apple says the cable works in both directions:

  • Connect AirPods Max or Beats Studio Pro to:

    • airplane entertainment systems

    • Macs

    • wired audio devices with a 3.5mm jack

  • Connect an iPhone or iPad with USB-C to:

    • speakers

    • car stereos

    • AUX inputs

Apple also claims ultra-low latency when used with AirPods Max, making it better for:

  • gaming

  • music production

  • video editing

  • content creation

Why this matters

Until now, the USB-C version of AirPods Max lacked an official wired audio solution comparable to the old Lightning cable. This accessory restores:

  • wired listening

  • lower latency audio

  • compatibility with legacy 3.5mm systems

That’s especially useful for travelers and creators who don’t want Bluetooth lag.

Price

Apple is selling the cable for $39.
