Apple Sports Adds 2026 FIFA World Cup Team Following Feature

Apple has updated its Apple Sports app for iPhone, adding expanded coverage for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup. With the update, soccer fans can now explore full tournament groupings and easily follow their favorite national teams directly within the app.

This edition of the World Cup marks a significant change, as it will be the first to feature 48 teams—an expansion from the traditional 32-team format—bringing more nations and matches into the global competition.

Apple continues to expand the capabilities of its Apple Sports app, making it easier for fans to stay connected to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

By following specific teams, users can receive real-time score updates, in-depth stats, and take advantage of Live Activities to track matches as they happen. Apple says these features will make it simpler than ever to keep up with the action when the tournament kicks off on June 11.

Beyond World Cup coverage, the app offers a comprehensive sports experience. Users can follow their favorite teams, leagues, and tournaments, quickly switch between live scores and upcoming fixtures, view play-by-play breakdowns, check lineups, and even jump into the Apple TV app to watch games live.

Apple Sports also supports more than 30 major soccer leagues and competitions across North America, Latin America, and Europe, making it a central hub for football fans worldwide.

The app is available as a free download on the App Store.
