Apple Starts Selling AirPods Max 2 in Retail Stores

Apple has officially begun selling the new AirPods Max 2 in Apple Store locations worldwide, with deliveries to customers also starting today.

The launch means the latest generation of Apple’s premium over-ear headphones is now widely available both in retail stores and through online orders, marking the beginning of global rollout for the product.

Apple has begun offering the AirPods Max 2 for same-day pickup at many Apple Store locations in the U.S. and internationally, alongside the start of global deliveries.

The new AirPods Max 2 are powered by the Apple H2 chip—the same chip introduced in AirPods Pro 2—and bring a range of upgraded audio and smart features. Apple says they deliver up to 1.5× stronger active noise cancellation compared to the previous generation, along with improved overall sound quality.

Key upgrades

The headphones introduce several advanced listening features, including:

  • Adaptive Audio for dynamic sound adjustment

  • Conversation Awareness for automatic volume reduction during speech

  • Voice Isolation for clearer calls

  • Live Translation support

Apple also highlights a new high dynamic range amplifier designed for cleaner audio output and improved Spatial Audio performance.

New Camera Remote feature

A notable addition is Camera Remote functionality, allowing users to press the Digital Crown on the headphones to take photos or control video recording on a connected iPhone or iPad using the Camera app or supported third-party apps.

Battery and design

AirPods Max 2 retain:

  • USB-C charging

  • Up to 20 hours of battery life with active noise cancellation enabled

  • Existing color options: Midnight, Starlight, Orange, Purple, and Blue

Pricing

The U.S. price remains set at $549, though early retailer discounts have already appeared in some markets, including Amazon promotions.

Overall, the AirPods Max 2 represent a focused upgrade on audio performance, smart features, and integration with the broader Apple ecosystem rather than a complete design overhaul.
