Helldivers 2 Devs “Underinvested” in Shooter’s Engine, Arrowhead CEO Admits, Pledges “Things Can/Will Get Better” Despite Recent Improvements

Arrowhead Game Studios has been open about the technical struggles that have plagued Helldivers 2, from bugs to the enormous PC file size. CEO Shams Jorjani recently spoke on Discord about how underinvestment in their tech—built on Autodesk Stingray, which stopped receiving updates in 2018—led to some of these issues. While they’ve made significant improvements, Jorjani emphasizes: “We’re better (our stats and sentiment confirm it) but we’re still not happy and things can/will be better.”

The team has been steadily addressing “feature decay,” glitches, and storage bloat, while still adding new enemies, missions, and storytelling content. Technical stability remains a work in progress, but the studio is committed to ongoing fixes and improvements, ensuring Helldivers 2 continues expanding despite past hurdles.
