iOS 17 and iPadOS 17: Release Date, Features, and Device Compatibility
Apple has officially released iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 for all compatible devices. While the update rollout may take some time to appear for every user, eligible iPhone and iPad owners can now begin downloading the new software.
First introduced during Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June, iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 bring a wide range of new features, interface improvements, and app enhancements across Apple’s ecosystem.
What’s New in iOS 17
iOS 17 introduces major updates to several core apps, including:

Apple also added smaller quality-of-life improvements throughout the operating system, along with a brand-new Journal app that is scheduled to arrive in a later update.
On the iPad side, iPadOS 17 introduces a redesigned Lock Screen experience similar to the customizable Lock Screen Apple first brought to iPhone with iOS 16. Users can now personalize wallpapers, add widgets, and access more interactive controls directly from the Lock Screen.
iOS 17 Release Timeline
Apple first made iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 available to developers immediately after the WWDC keynote on June 5. Public beta versions were later released on July 12 for users enrolled in Apple’s beta testing program.
During the “Wonderlust” event on September 12, Apple confirmed that the official public release would begin on Monday, September 18.
