The Grounds Is One of the Biggest New Additions
One of FC 27’s most noticeable additions is The Grounds, a new social football playground connected to the Clubs experience.
Instead of focusing entirely on traditional 11-a-side matches, The Grounds allows players to take part in casual, fast-paced football activities and mini-games.
The environment is divided into three districts inspired by different football cultures, with players able to explore the area, compete in activities and develop their footballer.
EA has also introduced mentors including Kylian Mbappé, Chloe Kelly, Paulo Dybala and Alex Hunter to help guide players through the experience.
Gameplay Has Been Reworked
EA is continuing its effort to make FC feel more responsive and realistic.
One of the biggest changes is a completely rebuilt interception system. EA says the system was rebuilt from scratch following issues with defensive interceptions in FC 26.
Defensive AI has also been adjusted to give players more manual control rather than having defenders automatically rush toward the ball and leave spaces behind.
Crossing has received changes as well, putting more responsibility on the player to control the direction and weight of crosses.
Attacking AI has also been improved, with off-the-ball players making more useful movements and doing a better job of staying onside.
Corners and free kicks now feature a new two-stage system, giving players additional control over set pieces.
Career Mode Gets a New Transfer Market
Career Mode receives one of its biggest changes through a rebuilt Transfer Market.
EA has partnered with TransferRoom to make transfers more dynamic. Player values can now be influenced by factors including their potential, rating, form and the buying power of the club.
The system also introduces more realistic negotiations and bidding situations, meaning managers may have to compete with rival clubs when trying to sign players.
Career Mode also adds new management elements, including additional press-conference decisions and Unexpected Events designed to create more variety during a season.
Football Ultimate Team Gets a New Gallery
Ultimate Team remains one of the central parts of EA Sports FC, and FC 27 introduces a new FUT Gallery.
The Gallery allows players to showcase and collect Player Items and sets from different clubs, leagues, nations and FUT campaigns.
Players can increase their Gallery Level as they complete collections and earn rewards, giving collected cards another purpose beyond simply building a starting XI.
EA has also made changes to Squad Building Challenges, player items, Evolutions and the way players earn rewards across FUT.
More Football Authenticity
EA Sports FC 27 continues the franchise’s focus on licensed football.
The game includes more than 21,000 players, 800+ clubs and national teams, 130+ stadiums and 35+ leagues, alongside more than 300 football partners.
Major competitions featured include the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Conference League, UEFA Women’s Champions League, CONMEBOL Libertadores, Premier League, Bundesliga and LALIGA EA SPORTS.
The highly anticipated Liga MX also returns to the game.
Who Is on the FC 27 Cover?
Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham headline the Ultimate Plus Edition cover.
Both Real Madrid stars feature prominently in EA’s marketing for FC 27, with Mbappé also appearing across the game’s editions and promotional material.
FC 27 Editions and Early Access
EA is offering three main editions: Standard, Ultimate and Ultimate Plus.
The Ultimate and Ultimate Plus editions provide up to seven days of early access, while the Ultimate Plus Edition was designed particularly for players who want additional Ultimate Team content and FC Points.
The Standard Edition provides access to the full game and its core modes from the worldwide launch on September 25.
EA Sports FC 27 arrives with a mixture of familiar football modes and significant changes.
The Grounds offers a new social way to play, while Career Mode gets a more dynamic transfer system and Ultimate Team introduces the new FUT Gallery. Gameplay has also been adjusted to give players greater control over defending, crossing and set pieces.
With the worldwide launch arriving on September 25, 2026, FC 27 is set to begin another season of virtual football just as the real-world football campaign gets underway.
