Falcom Confirms Final Trails Game Will Be Announced in 2031 and Released in 2032—Six Years to Catch Up on 1,000 Hours of JRPGs

The Trails series, a 22-year-old JRPG saga from Nihon Falcom, already has its ending mapped out. Toshihiro Kondo confirmed that the final game will be announced in 2031 and released in 2032.

Kondo also revealed that Falcom has a history of completing key elements quickly after each installment: for example, the theme song for Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter was finished just months after the first chapter launched, and the plot for The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon 2 was written only weeks after the first game in that subseries released.

While details about the final game are still scarce, the company plans to make the announcement as part of Nihon Falcom’s 45th anniversary in 2031. This confirms the long-term vision for the series has already been solidified.
