Top Stories: Foldable iPhone, iOS 26.5 Beta, Apple’s 50th Anniversary, and More

A particularly eventful March in the Apple ecosystem has now concluded, capped off by Apple’s 50th anniversary on April 1.

The month was marked by a steady stream of product updates, software changes, and ecosystem developments across Apple’s platforms, reflecting a highly active period for both hardware and services. The milestone anniversary added a symbolic close to the month, highlighting five decades since the company’s founding and underscoring its continued influence across the tech industry.

An especially busy March in the Apple world has now wrapped up, ending with Apple’s 50th anniversary on April 1.

But the flow of news and rumors is far from slowing down. This week alone brought renewed discussion across several major upcoming products, including the foldable iPhone, the iPhone 18 Pro lineup, and potential future updates to the iMac, along with other developments expected throughout the year.

Foldable iPhone expected to be Apple’s biggest redesign

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple’s first foldable iPhone could represent “the most significant overhaul in the iPhone’s history.” The device is expected to open like a book, similar in concept to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold line, with a large internal display designed for multitasking, video, and gaming. The software side is expected to be heavily influenced by iOS 27, with more iPad-like multitasking features such as split-view app usage.

The device is currently expected to debut alongside the iPhone 18 Pro models in September, though actual availability may be delayed.

iOS 26.5 beta and ongoing software changes

Following the release of iOS 26.4, Apple has begun testing iOS 26.5 along with related updates like macOS Tahoe 26.5. While a major Siri overhaul powered by Apple Intelligence is still pending and now expected in iOS 27, the first beta of 26.5 still introduces smaller refinements and changes.

More Apple products still coming in 2026

Despite a packed March that saw over 10 product announcements—including devices like the MacBook Neo and the discontinuation of the Mac Pro—Apple’s roadmap for the rest of the year remains full.

Upcoming rumored products include:

  • A foldable iPhone

  • A MacBook Pro with an OLED display

  • A new Apple TV

  • Updated HomePod models

  • A long-rumored smart home hub tied to next-generation Siri

iPhone 18 Pro and hardware leaks

Early leaks suggest the iPhone 18 Pro may feature a significantly smaller Dynamic Island. Prototype images and screen protector leaks point to a possible redesign involving a reduced front cutout and relocated Face ID components.

OLED iMac in development

Apple is also reportedly working on a future OLED version of the iMac. Suppliers have allegedly been asked to develop 24-inch OLED panels with higher brightness and similar pixel density to the current model, suggesting a major display upgrade compared to today’s LCD-based iMac.

Despite a landmark anniversary and a packed March, Apple’s product pipeline shows no signs of slowing, with major hardware redesigns and software shifts still expected throughout the rest of 2026.
