Go on a heroic quest across 14th-century Italy to save your damsel in distress
The chivalric action game 1348 Ex Voto has officially launched, and its new trailer—revealed during the Future Games Show Spring Showcase powered by HyperX—offers a glimpse at its brutal third-person melee combat and story-driven adventure.
Developed by Italian indie studio Sedleo and published by Dear Villagers, the game follows Aeta, a young knight errant who sets out on a dangerous journey through plague-stricken medieval Italy. Her mission is to rescue her childhood friend Bianca, the person she cares about most, from a grim fate.
Players may recognize Bianca’s voice actor: Jennifer English, known for her work in Baldur’s Gate 3 and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. She also won Best Performance at The Game Awards 2025 for portraying Maelle in Expedition 33, bringing considerable star power to the role.
While the story centers on Aeta’s rescue mission, the launch trailer puts most of its focus on gameplay. Throughout her quest, Aeta battles a variety of enemies across the hauntingly beautiful yet deadly landscapes of 14th-century Italy—ranging from forests and open fields to crumbling ruins, ancient palaces, and fortified castles.
The game’s melee combat system aims for authenticity as well. It was developed in collaboration with specialists in Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA), giving the swordplay a more realistic and tactical feel.
1348 Ex Voto is available now on PlayStation 5 and PC via the Epic Games Store and Steam. Players who want to try it first can also download a demo on Steam before diving into the full adventure. ![]()
