Apple CarPlay Gains Support for Three Popular iPhone Apps

Apple’s CarPlay has expanded its app support this week with the addition of three widely used apps: ChatGPT, Google Meet, and Audiomack.

CarPlay is Apple’s system for projecting selected iPhone apps onto a vehicle’s dashboard display, allowing for safer in-car access to navigation, communication, and media features.

The inclusion of ChatGPT brings AI assistant capabilities into the CarPlay environment, while Google Meet adds video meeting integration (typically for audio-first or parked-vehicle use cases), and Audiomack expands music streaming options for drivers.

These additions continue Apple’s gradual expansion of CarPlay’s app ecosystem, which remains tightly controlled to ensure safe in-vehicle usage.

Apple’s CarPlay is gaining several new app integrations, alongside a beta update for WhatsApp that expands its in-car experience beyond basic Siri controls.

One of the biggest additions comes from ChatGPT, which now supports voice-based conversational use in CarPlay starting with iOS 26.4. The feature allows drivers to have spoken interactions with ChatGPT while the app is open and view conversation titles, though full text and images are hidden for safety reasons.

Google Meet is also now available on CarPlay, enabling users to join meetings with a single tap, access upcoming schedules, and participate in audio-only calls. Video playback is disabled on the CarPlay interface for safety while driving.

Meanwhile, Audiomack has been added as well, bringing its music streaming and download features into the car. The CarPlay interface includes tabs for Discover, Charts, Playlists, and personal libraries, with a strong focus on independent artists and genres like Afrobeats and hip-hop.

In addition, WhatsApp is testing a redesigned CarPlay experience in beta. The updated version goes beyond Siri-based messaging by showing recent chats, call history, and favorite contacts directly within the CarPlay interface.

Apple notes that users should ensure their apps are updated to the latest versions, after which supported features will automatically appear in CarPlay.
