Nier: Automata–Inspired Indie Adds a System Yoko Taro “Stopped” Adding to His Own Action RPG, Leaving a Lead Dev “Honestly a Little Jealous”

Yoko and Takahisa Taura shared their thoughts on the new indie game Homura Hime in an interview with Automaton. Taura noted that while Homura Hime was inspired by Nier: Automata, it included a feature that Automata never had: a shooting mechanic where firing consumes a gauge, and the player cannot shoot once it depletes. He admitted to feeling a bit jealous of this design choice, saying it’s something he had wanted to implement himself.
