Genre-Hopping Hades 2 Studio Aims Not for Bigger or Better, but for a Game That Could Be Someone’s Favorite

Except Hades 2, I guess?

Supergiant Games isn’t focused on making bigger or flashier games, according to studio director Amir Rao. Instead, the goal is to create experiences that could become a player’s personal favorite.

A studio of diverse hits

While Hades was a breakout success, earlier titles like Bastion and Transistor remain beloved—and fans often prefer them to Hades. Rao emphasizes that, aside from the upcoming Hades 2, each game in Supergiant’s library is distinct, with its own style, story, and gameplay:

“For us, it’s like, we’ve made a lot of games that people have responded really well to and they love. And for us, we’re not trying to make a game that’s better than the last game and bigger than the last game in all these ways. We’re trying to make a game that has the potential to be someone’s favorite game from us.”

Supergiant continues to prioritize unique, memorable experiences over sheer size or spectacle, ensuring every release stands out on its own. :artist_palette::sparkles:
