ll are destined to fall to Shadowstone — but you can face it early by joining the limited closed playtest on Steam.
Previously known as Codename Tinderstrike, Shadowstone challenges players to survive roguelite runs through a ruined world crawling with monsters and warped by dark magic. During the Future Games Show Spring Showcase powered by HyperX, it was revealed that players can now sign up for a public playtest on Steam.
Build your team of heroes
Each run allows you to assemble a party of up to four heroes and fight your way through the ruins. When Early Access launches, the available characters will include:
-
Witch – a mystic spellcaster with powerful magical abilities
-
Berserker – a massive frontline fighter built for raw strength
-
Pyromancer – a chaotic wielder of destructive fire magic
-
Ranger – a precise sharpshooter who attacks from a distance
Players can control multiple heroes while playing solo, or team up with up to three friends in online co-op for four-player cooperative runs.
Tactical combat on a hex grid
Victory depends on mastering the battlefield. Every hero comes with unique abilities that can be upgraded and combined with others to create powerful synergies. Combat takes place on a hexagonal grid, where each attack or spell follows a specific pattern. Careful planning lets players manipulate enemy positioning, lure them into traps, and unleash devastating combos.
A roguelite world that changes every run
Because of its roguelite design, no two runs are the same. The game features randomized rooms, enemies, and encounters, meaning players must constantly adjust their strategies. Skill cards, equipment, and power-ups change from run to run, allowing you to experiment with different party builds to survive the horrors lurking in the ruins.
Shadowstone is scheduled to launch in Early Access on Steam later in 2026, but players can already wishlist the game and apply for the limited closed playtest to get an early taste of the action.
